Diagnostic Data Collection

The .NET Management Pack enables collection of root-cause diagnostic data, including all state information associated with the monitored event. This information includes local and member variables and parameters. In addition, the .NET Management Pack returns the precise line of problem code for exception events. The depth of diagnostic data collected pinpoints the exact root cause of application problems, enabling accurate triage and faster resolution. And, this detail enables a complete reproducible test case using the exact same data that caused the event to occur.
Monitors All .NET Code Operations Manager 2007 has the built-in capability to monitor .NET web applications. With the .NET Management Pack, this capability is expanded to include any .NET code, including .NET Reporting, Win Services, .exe, .dll, and COM+ components.
Application Topology Operations Manager 2007 provides a graphical topology of the monitored system. The .NET Management Pack enables an application-specific topology that shows how an application functions throughout the system.
Resource Utilization and Correlation While Operations Manager 2007 collects performance counter data at the server level, the .NET Management Pack enables collection of performance data and correlation of that data with monitored events. This provides a view of system and application behavior leading up to the event, enabling a more complete picture of system health and behavior.
Event Correlation The .NET Management Pack enables correlation of performance and exception events. This provides insight into the relation between monitored events and the root cause of those events.
Baseline Trending The .NET Management Pack provides a “profiling” type functionality that shows aggregated/average performance trends across an application. When used in pre-production, this functionality provides developers and QA with a means to establish expected behavior which can then be used to set appropriate service level thresholds for in-production monitoring.
Advanced Reporting The .NET Management Pack provides critical hotspot and trend reports that yield insight into application behavior and help pinpoint trouble areas that are impacting the largest audience. Trend reports also help determine whether an event is an anomaly or a pattern that needs to be immediately addressed.
SLA Threshold Setting With the .NET Management Pack, performance thresholds can be set all the way down to the method level.
Bi-drectional Integration with TFS With the AVIcode TFS Incident Management Connector, the .NET Management Pack can be integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System to provide bi-directional communication of application events between Operations Manager 2007 and Team Foundation Server. This provides both development and operations teams with insight into application behavior and enables collaboration on problem resolution.
