AVIcode Announces Integration with Microsoft Visual
Studio 2005 Beta 2 Release
AVIcode demonstrates application health modeling
tool for custom .NET Framework-based applications
designed in Visual Studio 2005 Team Architect
AVIcode, an independent vendor of application fault
management software, has announced that its flagship
software solution, Intercept Studio 2.3.3, is now
integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2.
This move reaffirms AVIcode's support of Microsoft's
developer tools and platform. AVIcode will demonstrate
its integration with Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 at
Microsoft TechEd 2005 in Orlando, June 6-9, in the
Visual Studio Industry Partners section of the Expo
Hall. AVIcode integration will also be featured in Alex
Torrone's Breakout Session entitled "Developing Logical
Data Centers" on Wednesday June 8 at 10:15am.
AVIcode develops and markets Intercept Studio which
monitors .NET Framework-based applications in real-time
production environments. Intercept Studio provides
immediate visibility of application-level and business
process errors, even those not yet discovered by end
users. This visibility enables quality assurance (QA)
and development to effectively resolve application
failures by pinpointing the exact line of
problem-causing code, allowing it to be fixed
immediately before defects negatively affect the
business or the user experience.
AVIcode's implementation of .NET Framework-based
fault monitoring naturally extends Microsoft Visual
Studio Team System by providing operational data to
those who need it at each step of the development
process including development project managers, software
architects, coders, QA testers, and - for the first time
ever data center operators and systems administrators.
"As a member of the Visual Studio Industry Partner (VSIP)
program, AVIcode offers Visual Studio developers a
practical solution for developing a health monitoring
infrastructure for distributed applications in
production," said Prashant Sridharan, group product
manager in the .NET Developer Product Management Group
at Microsoft Corp. "Its solution, Intercept Studio,
provides our mutual customers with direct access to
complete runtime monitoring information from Microsoft
ASP.NET and Web services applications."
AVIcode's Enterprise Edition of Intercept Studio
extends the functionality of Visual Studio Team System
to enable enterprises that support business applications
based on the Microsoft .NET Framework to design,
validate, and deploy application health monitoring
infrastructure on the Visual Studio Team Architect
design surface. In addition, it enables developers to
collect root cause error information and analysis
provided by Intercept Studio's monitoring agents in the
event of an application error or degraded performance.
At TechEd 2005, AVIcode will demonstrate health
monitoring infrastructure based on Microsoft's modeling
tools, formerly code-named "Whitehorse," AVIcode
Intercept Studio agents, and Microsoft Operations
Manager 2005 (MOM) as follows:
- In application diagram architect will set health
monitoring parameters for exception monitoring and
performance monitoring as well as MOM interpretation
of those events.
- In logical data center diagram infrastructure
engineer will set operational characteristics of the
.NET monitoring infrastructure and integration with
MOM.
- At the moment of generation of the deployment
diagram, AVIcode Intercept Studio's Management Pack
Generator will automatically create a MOM management
pack. The Management Pack enables operations
personnel to see how to deploy the application, but
also how to monitor its health.
- After events are collected in MOM they are
automatically forwarded to Visual Studio Team System
and associated with appropriate project portfolio in
the form of a work items. From the deployment
diagram in Visual Studio Team Architect developers
will be able to select an application component and
click "Show Operational Events" to view all the
events associated with that component.
Critical event information generated by Intercept
Studio is automatically reported into the Visual Studio
2005 integrated development environment (IDE) and
immediately displayed in a Work Item, whereupon the
developer responsible for issue resolution receives
notification and a hyperlink containing all of the
detailed root-cause information needed to pinpoint and
fix the problem quickly. Once an event has entered
Visual Studio Team System, developers have access to
detailed operational knowledge for future reference.
In addition to Visual Studio integration, Intercept
Studio Operations Edition for MOM 2005 provides
real-time, in-production monitoring of custom .NET
applications. Through the combination of Visual Studio
Team System application life cycle development tools,
the manageability of Windows Server System technologies
using MOM 2005, and the application management features
of Intercept Studio Operations Edition for MOM 2005,
developers will have unsurpassed insight and control
over the health and performance of enterprise systems.
"The ability for software architects to model
application health monitoring infrastructure on the
design surface of Visual Studio Team Edition for
Software Architects, and then provide operational
feedback to developers within the Visual Studio 2005
IDE, brings application maintenance process to a new
level of productivity," said Victor Mushkatin, CTO at
AVIcode.
As a member of the VSIP Program and the Microsoft
Management Alliance, AVIcode is one of the first
independent software vendors to provide a combination of
pre-development/AD group and post-development/Systems
Management group thinking in its products. Typically,
communication between these two groups is informal or
nonexistent
