AVIcode Announces the Design for Operations Starter Kit

Starter Kit provides a bridge between Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 Team System

AVIcode, one of the leading providers of .NET Framework-based application monitoring solutions, today announced plans to develop together with Microsoft a Design for Operations Starter Kit that will provide a bridge between Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 (MOM) and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System. AVIcode's Design for Operations Starter Kit is due out later this year.

The Starter Kit will comprise source code that furthers Microsoft's Dynamic Systems Initiative by offering one of the first products that facilitates and automates communication between MOM and Visual Studio 2005 Team System, uniting Operations and Development organizations. "The release of Visual Studio 2005 Team System represents a significant advance for software development teams," said Prashant Sridharan, lead program manager of Visual Studio 2005 Team System at Microsoft Corp.. "With AVIcode's Design for Operations Starter Kit, developers on the Microsoft .NET Framework will have a powerful tool that supports them from application modeling through development, deployment and management."

The Starter Kit, due out in 4Q05, will be made available by Microsoft, at no charge, to all developers and development teams that utilize Visual Studio 2005. Specifically, the Starter Kit will integrate Visual Studio 2005 Team System work items and MOM alerts. In other words, a monitored application exception or fault in MOM will automatically generate a Visual Studio 2005 Team System work item and, when that work item is resolved in Visual Studio 2005 Team System, the MOM alert will be automatically cleared.

"We are very pleased to announce a continuing and strengthening relationship with Microsoft," said Mike Curreri, CEO of AVIcode. "With the delivery of the .NET Management Pack earlier this year, and the Design for Operations Starter Kit by year end, AVIcode is one of the leaders in delivering on the promise of application health modeling and monitoring."

As part of the agreement, the Design for Operations Starter Kit will also include a Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server connector that allows for the creation of operational issues and automatic updating of their status. In addition, AVIcode will deliver a new Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server work item type that provides an operational workflow process template in Visual Studio 2005 Team System for incident and problem management.

The Design for Operations Starter Kit will enable developers to integrate and automate the communication needed to effectively monitor and manage application issues. The Starter Kit will integrate seamlessly with AVIcode's .NET Management Pack which is also distributed by Microsoft and is available to all MOM users to enable custom .NET Framework-based application health and service level monitoring.
