AVIcode Announces Integration and Support for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007

AVIcode powers application monitoring capabilities of Operations Manager 2007; AVIcode announces .NET Management Pack Enterprise Edition to further enhance monitoring capabilities

BALTIMORE, MD and SAN DIEGO, CA, 03/28/2007 – At the Microsoft Management Summit (MMS) in San Diego, AVIcode, Inc. today announced that its award-winning .NET application monitoring technology has been incorporated into Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007. One of the key enhancements to Systems Center Operations Manager 2007 is the built-in ability to monitor .NET applications and provide real-time health alerts when those applications experience code failures or performance bottlenecks. Through a development and license agreement with Microsoft, AVIcode built and delivered this capability. Within Systems Center Operations Manager, AVIcode receives the following attribution: “.NET monitoring powered by AVIcode technology.”

“As the adoption of Microsoft .NET continues to rapidly increase, it is becoming more important to enable IT and operations personnel to monitor their line of business .NET applications,” says Larry Orecklin, General Manager of System Center Marketing at Microsoft Corp. “In order to enable Operations Manager 2007 to manage .NET applications out of the box, Microsoft contracted with AVIcode to incorporate their .NET application monitoring technology.”

With a first-to-market advantage and ever-growing list of worldwide customers, AVIcode has established itself with its stand-alone and industry-leading monitoring solution, Intercept Studio, along with both an Operations Edition and Enterprise Edition of its .NET Management Pack for MOM 2005.

.NET Management Pack for Operations Manager 2007
Recognizing the significance of System Center, and in an effort to further extend the functionality of Operations Manager 2007, AVIcode also today announced its .NET Management Pack for Operations Manager 2007.

“AVIcode’s .NET Management Pack for Operations Manager 2007 enables Operations Manager to deliver a comprehensive view of application behavior and real-time diagnosis of application problems in production,” says Mike Curreri, CEO of AVIcode. “We are pleased to see our relationship with Microsoft continuing to strengthen, and we look forward to continuing to provide solutions that enable the delivery and management of highly available and reliable applications.”

The .NET Management Pack extends the native application monitoring capabilities within Operations Manager 2007. Enhanced features include:

• Concurrent monitoring for performance and code problems
• Monitoring of disconnected or non-networked computers
• Ability to collect and correlate key performance counters with application behavior
• Health status views from both a per computer and per application perspective
• On-the-fly configuration of data collection thresholds and triggers
• Extensible reporting on application availability and trends

Banverket, the public authority responsible for the Swedish railway network, recently upgraded their monitoring system; the core of the new solution is Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 along with AVIcode’s .NET Management Pack.

“We continuously strive for more efficient monitoring of operations and shorter fault-detection time,” says Pontus Blomqvist, IT architect at Banverket in Borlänge. Regarding AVIcode’s .NET Management Pack, Blomqvist states, “we can see whether a certain application is slow, and also specify which code in the program is taking a long time. This is important information which our operations personnel are now able to detect at an early stage and feed back directly to those who developed the application.”

AVIcode at MMS
AVIcode’s .NET Management Pack and its integration with Operations Manger 2007 will be featured in the MMS technical session – Line of Business Application Monitoring – on Friday, March 30. AVIcode’s CTO, Victor Mushkatin, will be presenting in the session along with Microsoft’s James Galvin. AVIcode will also be exhibiting at booth #226 throughout the MMS conference.
